Some of my favorite promos. I have more but a lot of them aren't easily available on youtube or dailymotion. Some of my favs I can't find a video of is right after Beulah turned on Raven, they did a promo where I can't remember anything else except the line "Tommy has a higher purpose, and it's bigger then yours." I also remember one of the Dudley Family promos where D-Von chased Buh Buh with a car.

There were some awesome ECW moments and matches but for every great match there were 2 bad matches. I love it but I also hate it. Especially how pretentious some of the ECW past wrestlers sound when they are talking about ECW. The worst part about ECW were the reunion shows outside of the WWE ones. I love Funk, Sabu, Cactus, Sandman, and most of the big names, that come up while talking about ECW but I really love Traci Smothers, Nova, the whole FBI, Mikey, and just those guys who never really get talked about how good they are.

Unfortunately what you're saying is true. Heck, when I started watching it (Earlier this year started on 1996) the only good thing about the entire show was the promos at the end. Half the hardcore matches feel like I'm watching Wrestlemania ?? Big Show/Raven/Kane where they hit eachother with a few weapons and walked through the audience for the rest of the time. Raven cuts great promos but he can't wrestle.... well barely. Maybe it's his role to only use two moves, the ddt and if it counts as a move, hiding behind someone else. I think the revolution ECW caused is much greater then the promotion itself. Without ECW there likely wouldn't be any luchadors or cruiserweights throughout the years in WWE/WCW, without ECW the Attitude Era would've never happened (If you don't believe ECW is the thing WWE copied for the attitude era, without ECW there would've been no stone cold), hardcore wrestling would've never been brought to the states and it would've stayed in Japan. Heck, maybe if there was no ecw then the FMW roster would've been stacked with american names like RVD, Funk, Sabu, Cactus, etc. So yeah. I believe the legacy of ECW is much greater then the actual promotion. I will say this though, I enjoyed ECW ONS 05, but that's about the only reunion show I did enjoy. |

Hey Brick, what's your favorite ECW rivalry? Mine has to be Tazz & Sabu. Brutal fucking rivalry. Sabu vs Taz had some pretty great buildup and the matches when they finally fought were great. Guido/Crazy/Tajiri had great matches consistently. Same with RVD/Lynn Masato Tanaka vs Mike Awesome too Raven vs Sandman and vs dreamer had garbage matches but the story was good Cactus Jack, as he was exiting and feuding with tommy dreamer, cut some of the best promos he's ever done. Unfortunately his match quality decreased (according to his book on purpose, lots of headlocks) Honestly I have a soft spot for the Gangstas/Eliminators feud from 96-97. Not my favorite though. My favorite overall would probably be Taz/Sabu just for the buildup, the matches, and Taz having the undefeated streak (path of rage) just made it all the better. My favorite at the moment is Buh Buh vs D-Von/D-Von vs Dudleyz. So far has produced the most entertaining promos, some decent matches and I'm intrigued by D-Von's mission to eliminate all of the other dudleyz. |

I think it's interesting to know that Tommy Dreamer said that during his whole feud with Raven, he never wanted Raven to lose to him. And that before Raven left to WCW that Dreamer was forced to pick up a win over him. I always found that very interesting.
