OK, so I finished watching Mania an hour ago. I felt like sharing my thoughts with you guys.
The Shield vs Orton, Show and Sheamus
I had a feeling that the World Title match wouldn't kick off the show, but THIS came out of nowhere. I thought the Tag Titles would be on the line in the first match. Anyway, this was a pretty good match. The crowd weren't really into this match. I liked how Dean Ambrose got his protective gear ripped off. Without that on, he looks like he's ready to wrestle, and not go out on the streets and arrest people for drink driving. It had some good spots. The RKO and spear was a good ending. The Big Show heel turn was so obvious, he might as well have had it tattooed on his face. Would have been nice to see this go a little longer. I think 5 extra minutes really would make this a better match. Good way to open the show.
3/5
Mark Henry vs Ryback
The crowd were quite quiet but at least they cheered for the big spots. It was a slow match and I think the only reason the match was booked was for the shell shock at the end. Didn't like how the match ended with Henry falling on Ryback's back. I suppose the shell shock made up for it. This was the first of the 2 matches that weren't predicted results.
2.5/5
Team Hell No vs Big. E and Ziggy (though not the confirmed name, it sounds cheesy, just like every other tag name)
This was a decent match. Nothing really memorable and the only real thing I remember was the chokeslam into a diving headbutt. Crowd were dead. Average tag match.
2.5/5
Fandango vs Chris Jericho
Decent match. Crowd were OK and had a couple of good spots. Roll up win was surprising. I think there'll be a push for Fandango in the near future. Nothing you wouldn't see at any other PPV. Winning your debut against Chris Jericho is quite a feat. Decent match.
2.75/5
Alberto Del Rio vs Jack Swagger
This was a great match but would have liked to see this go for about 16 or 17 minutes instead of 10. The taking of the crutch was good. This was the second match that not many people predicted right. Dissapointed to see a 10 minute World Tittle match. At least it was longer than last year's. Good match overall. Surprised that Dolph didn't cash in, though.
3.5/5
CM Punk vs The Undertaker
I thought this would have been either the main event or after Brock vs HHH. Amazing match. This is joint match of the night for me. The crowd was completely into this match. Undertaker's entrance was great. Started off very quick. Very fast paced match. They gave this match 22 minutes which I think was the right amount of time. I loved the elbow onto the table. There were quite a few times during this match where I thought the streak was over. Glad it didn't end. Amazing match.
4.5/5
Brock Lesnar vs Triple H
2nd main event of the night, and in my opinion, just as good as the other 2 main events. The crowd were great here. I'm glad that they used the no holds barred stipulation properly and didn't just do 2 chair shots and a table bump. The suplex through the table was great. The ending was great and the match had many great spots which showed that Brock Lesnar can wrestle and doesn't just rely on his powerful hands. Great match.
4.5/5
The Rock vs John Cena
I admit, I wasn't really looking forward to this match. We'd seen it once and, without a stipulation, I wasn't really sure what they could do to make it better than last year's match. I didn't know what they could do, but the WWE script writers sure damn did! This was better than last year's match and had a lot more spots. Last year had just 2 or 3 great spots, while this match had 5 or 6. The crowd were completely into this. It was obvious that Cena would win. What happened after the match was good and ended the feud. This match is also joint match of the night, in my eyes. Amazing match.
4.5/5
Overall, this PPV was amazing. I'm quite happy they left out the 8 man tag. All that would have done was make the lower card matches even shorter. I think this might just be better than last year's WrestleMania. Just. Overall, I'd give this PPV an 8.5/10. I'm definitely buying this on DVD and if you didn't see it, order the re run. Thanks for reading.
